18: Woe unto you that desire FIRST LAST YOM YHWH [Day of The LORD]! to what end is it for you? [For you] YOM YHWH is darkness and not light 19: As if a man did flee from the lion and the bear met him or went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall and the serpent bit him 20: Shall not [for you] YOM YHWH be darkness, and not light? even very dark and no brightness in it? Isaiah 60:2, Joel 2:2, John 9:4, 2 Thessalonians 2:8-b
Comments: Amos 5:18-20 This verse confirms a pre-tribulational rapture. The Day of the LORD (YOM YHWH) includes the Time of Jacob’s Trouble as well as the1000-year reign of peace that will follow. God just told Israel that it would do no good for them to desire The Day of the LORD, because, if it were to come in their time, they would only experience the darkness of The Great Tribulation and not the brightness of the coming of the LORD and the first 1000-years of HIS reign on earth.
Compare this passage with John 9:4
where Jesus said he would work while it was day. Jesus said that the
night would come when no one could work. Jesus was speaking of the dark night
of The Great Tribulation.
Amos said there would be no brightness in that
day. Joel called it a dark and a cloudy day. In this world, Jesus works through
his people, who are indwelled by the Holy Spirit. Compare with 2 Thessalonians
2:7-8, where the apostle wrote that HE (The Holy Spirit) was the one
who restrained The Wicked One (the antichrist) and would do so until HE (The
Holy Spirit) be taken out of the way.
The day John 9:4 will end by the Holy
Spirit will be taken out of the way 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 when Jesus
descends from Heaven with a shout and the dead in Christ rise, immediately followed
by the catching up of we who are living and remain 1 Thessalonians
4:16-18. In an instant, in the twinkling of an eye 1 Corinthians
15:52 all who are the Temples of the Living God (through the
indwelling of the Holy Spirit) will be removed from the earth, the restraint of
the Holy Spirit will be gone, and night will descend on those who have
been left behind.
Watch ye therefore and pray always that you may be
accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to
stand before the Son of Man…Come let us reason together says the LORD. Though
your sins be as scarlet they shall be white as snow…For God so loved the world
he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes on HIM shall not perish
but have everlasting life…we are saved by grace through faith and not of works…If
we confess with our mouth the LORD Jesus and believe in our hearts that God raised
HIM from the dead we shall be saved.
