Amos 3:3 commentary

Can two walk together except they be agreed?

Comments: Amos 3:3 This verse is commonly used of human relationships, and this is a true principle. But in Amos 3:3, the Almighty is talking about him walking with us and us walking with him. Through the prophet Amos, the Lord declares that, though he has been long-suffering and merciful with Israel, he is ceasing to walk with them because they have consistently and deliberately fallen out of agreement with him, into irreversible depravity.

“Can two walk together except they be agreed?” How can we, who are made of clay, apply this principle to our lives and relationship with our Creator? We seek truth. God’s WORD is Truth. And we walk in it to the best of our ability. We cannot claim to walk with the Lord, unless to our best understanding we are in agreement with him. And how can we know whether or not we are in agreement with him, unless we know his WORD?
