1 Corinthians Chapter 8: the Godhead--Trinity or Triad?

1: Now as touching things offered to idols we know that we all have knowledge Knowledge puffs up but love builds up 2: And if anyone think that they know anything they know nothing yet as they ought to know 3: But if any one love God the same is known of him 4: As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to idols we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is no Theos other but one 5: For though there be that are called gods whether in heaven or in earth (as there be gods many and lords many)[1] 6: But to us there is but one Theos the Father of whom are all things and we for him and one Lord Jesus Christ by whom are all things and we by him[2] 7: However there is not in every one that knowledge for some with conscience of the idol to this hour eat it as a thing offered to an idol and their conscience being weak is defiled 8: But meat commends us not to God for neither if we eat are we the better neither if we eat not are we the worse 9: But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumbling-block to them that are weak 10: For if any one see you who has knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple shall not the conscience of them who are weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols 11: And through your knowledge shall the weak brethren perish for whom Christ died[3] 12: But when you sin so against the brethren and wound their weak conscience you sin against Christ[4] 13: Wherefore if meat make my brother to offend I will eat no flesh while the world stands lest I make my brother to offend.

[1] Remember where Paul and the Corinthians lived. They lived in the Roman Empire, which was Greek culture. Greek mythology was considered real, Caesar was worshipped as a deity, they were surrounded by the entire pantheon of Greek gods, and virtually every Roman home had an altar to some god[s], with the father being the literal priest of that home.

[2] Complementarian (male headship) theology teaches a hierarchal triad of gods, in which Jesus [allegedly the eternal son] is under eternal subjection to the eternal Father. They do this because they believe it shores up otherwise flimsy theology concerning the eternal subjugation of women to men. This heretical teaching ignores the fact that it is Jesus Himself who is the Eternal Father and does violence to the eternal Godhead, which is ONE Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born unto us a son is given and the government shall be upon his shoulder and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor The mighty God The everlasting Father, Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel and his redeemer the LORD of hosts I am the first and I am the last and beside me there is no God.

[3] This appears to be an allusion to loss of eternal rather than physical life.

[4] Paul knows from personal experience, that sinning against another Christian is the same as sinning against Christ himself. Did not Jesus appear to him on the Damascus Road, and ask, “And he fell to the earth and heard a voice saying unto him Saul, Saul why persecutest thou me me?” Acts 9:4
