Luke 4:15-21 Commentary

Jesus declares that he is Jehovah [see Isaiah 61:1-9, where in verse :8 we see that the person speaking in verses 1-3 is Elohiym. In luke 4:15-21, Jesus stands up in a public meeting and declares that he is the person speaking in Isaiah 61:1-9. Jesus is God

There is also a reason why he quoted all of Isaiah 61:1 but only the first part of verse two

15: And he taught in their synagogues being glorified of all 16: And he came to Nazareth where he had been brought up and as his custom was he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day and stood up for to read 17: And there was delivered to him the book of the prophet Isaiah And when he had opened the book he found the place where it was written 18: The Spirit of the Lord Adonai YHWH Isaiah 61:1 is upon me because YHWH he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted to proclaim deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind to set at liberty them that are bruised 19: To herald the acceptable year of the LORD YHWH Isaiah 61:2, 2 Cor 6:1-2 20: And he closed the book [1] and he gave it back to the attendant and sat down And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened upon him 21: And he began to say unto them This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears

[1] Jesus did not finish reading the rest of that verse [Isaiah 61:2] because only part-one P-1 was being fulfilled during the days of his first coming Unto us a child is born….. The rest of the verse says: “to proclaim…and the Day of the vengeance of our God P-2 “The Indignation” | Great Tribulation | Jacob’s Trouble | 2nd Coming (/) and comfort all that mourn P-3….” 1000 years | Christ’s Kingdom
